…getting the personality and motivations of various historical public figures wrong.  They usually do it in a way that reflects the ideological bias of the historian/social scientist in question, too.  And there should be a third sentence reinforcing this point, except that I can’t think of one and it’s already getting tedious to write this.  I just wanted to note that – and for some bizarre reason – that it looks like that, no, Edward VIII of England really was just as much of a prejudiced asshole as virtually every alternate history book involving WWII portrays him as being.  I mean, I figured that maybe people were being lazy, or something.  …No.  Complete schmuck, that guy was.
