Somewhat related, I was really disappointed with the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premier. clumsy dialogue. Clunky story. poor casting. Hope Joss isn’t mailing this one in.
It suffered from a need for exposition, plus too many characters.

If anything, it felt like Clark Gregg was doing the mailing-in.
They did just sort of jump in and assume you knew what was going on and who was who and what was what. Kinda needed something like the “recruit a new agent for secret outfit gambit” a la M.I.B. or maybe set the story in the past (before Avengers) when it’s supposed to be a secret agency. I was surprised they drove around in marked cars.
I don’t think the chick from “How I met your Mother” is a good pick for a secret agent.
