Random observation.

Jesus Christ but I will be happy when the primaries are over.  And I’m not really swearing, there: that’s pretty much an out-and-out prayer.

…and I had a rant here that I have since deleted. Look: just be nice to people, OK? There’s enough ugliness in the world that we don’t have to add to it.

    1. I suspect this has more to do with recent events in Mississippi.

And even if it doesn’t … let’s keep what Moe said in mind.

  1. “Jesus Christ but I will be happy when the primaries are over.”
    .
Get comfortable on that tolit seat, Moe. Florida’s Primaries (the latest one I know) are in August.

    1. Illinois primaries are done, and the state-level candidates (mainly Rauner vs. Quinn) aren’t doing heavy ad buys – at least not that have reached *me* yet.
      .
      I’m sure that’ll change.

  2. My primaries were happily bloodless. But dang, the stuff down in MS are terrible. And the NRSC should be the adults in the room ( but aren’t) unfortunately.

    1. To any of the gutless D.C. wing reading here – this is why the trust of the base *matters*.
      .
Once that trust is destroyed, as it currently is, y’all no longer get the “benefit of the doubt”.

      Want it back? Earn it.

        1. I apologize, Moe.
          .
You are correct, that last sentence wasn’t called for.
          .
I do stand by the rest of the post.

        2. Moe, sometimes one has to call a spade a spade, that said one thing that irritates me to no end is that the candidates are often more aggressive in the primaries than in the general (when generally every candidate in the primary is essentially on the same side).

In any event Moe, while you and I have had disagreements in the past, I’ll note that I’ve rarely seen you actually be rude. I’ve also noticed that when you get angry that it seems you get over it fairly quickly (which is a good thing).

  3. I’ll be glad when the Georgia primary gets over on Tuesday because the politicians are calling and leaving voicemail multiple times a day and our voicemail system doesn’t let you delete a message until you’ve listened to The Entire Bloody Thing.

  4. I was originally going to leave this one alone, out of sympathy/respect. But some points need to be made.

A local Republican committeeman told me a story: There were three nice ladies who served in the party. They recently announced that they would no longer be participating because “things had become too nasty.”

I do not denigrate this, but again sympathize. Some people are simply not made for combat. These people might be called “civilians,” in the sense that they are inclined toward peace-time activity. This is important because eventually all wars must end, and civilians are better-suited for peace-time than soldiers.

But when war breaks out, what’s needed is soldiers.

We are at war. The left has declared a cultural war on America. Things are starting to spiral out of control.
Until recently, this might have been likened to the Cold War. But like that conflict, there have been events where things threatened to break out into a “hot war.”
The Cliven Bundy thing was like this, but the two sides withdrew before the flashpoint. Still, the threat remains.

Like king Théoden, we can ask “How did it come to this?” but we know the answer. Now, we must prepare for battle and be of good cheer. Wishing it away won’t work.
