Quote of the Day, I Want Them To Run Away When They See Me Again edition.

From a not-really-a-review of Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor:

The fact that the warlords remember you (previousEncounter=1) and talk trash when you come at them again is cool and unfortunately rather novel. Personally I think more games should have cut scenes where the bad guys acknowledge that I, the protagonist, have in fact killed 800 henchmen at this point in the game, making me one of the most successful spree killers in history.

I’ve thought this, myself. Probably everybody who plays video games has.  …I hope. because otherwise I’m just being weird.  Well, weirder than normal.

  1. I’m kinda bummed that the X-360 version ain’t coming out until November, and that the Nemesis System ( the thing that makes the enemies remember you from previous encounters) is being reduced in the current gen consoles.

I hope not by too much, the developers have promised to keep the console versions as similar to each other as possible.

And I will also note that the developers of this game seem to have put in more effort then what you’d usually expect from a movie/book tie-in game.

      1. Oh? Have you played the game? Were liberties taken or was the game respectful?

I want a good game, I’m hoping the developers didn’t decide that in order to make a good game they needed to take a dump on Tolkien’s work.

I mean I can handle a wraith and a link to celebrimbor, but if the “Sauron’s Sons” turns out to be true then I’d probably not be okay with that. Sure Maia’s can have children with mortals ( but not other Maia’s per Tolkien, though in his initial writings they could) but that only ever happened once.

Anyway I hope its a good game and I hope its also respectful of Tolkien.
But If I start playing it and think its more like Star Wars ( in Middle Earth) or Wheel of Time crapstyle magic then I’m going to be incredibly bummed.
