This is a tough call to make: “Congressional Democrats led by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are quietly working to repeal the “Cadillac tax,” a 40 percent excise on certain expensive health-insurance policies enacted as part of the so-called Affordable Care Act, which grows less affordable by the minute.”
- On the one hand, it’s a damfool idea that should never have been passed in the first place.
- On the other hand, this is true about the rest of Obamacare, and it seems soft-hearted to just let the Democrats get away with passing it.
- On the gripping hand, getting rid of the Cadillac tax and its supposed* revenues will certainly accelerate the inevitable crash of Obamacare. And, seriously: by now we’ve probably destroyed the careers of all the politicians that we can realistically expect to destroy. Everybody that’s left is apparently largely immune to dumpster fires.
So… maybe we could let them. For a price, of course. I’ll let Speaker Ryan figure that one out; it’ll be a good test of what we can realistically expect out of the man.
*It is an article of faith among the Left that higher taxes will result in increased revenues by the same percentage as that of the tax increase; despite the fact that this does not, in fact, happen.
