This is a remarkably angry AND clear-headed assessment of the Mizzou situation.

Like @EsotericCD, I’m slightly reluctant to publicly approve of this:

…solely because it might wreck Jason Whitlock’s credibility*.  Personally, I think that white progressives would be better suited going into places that are actually having literal life-or-death crises. Not that they would, of course. Such a thing would be far outside their safe spaces.

*Although I will note for the record that, unlike (apparently) Mr. Whitlock, I have very little regard for Father Michael Pfleger. Which is fine, because if Pfleger actually recognized my name he’d undoubtedly have very little regard for me.

  1. “Who benefits?”
    “Follow the money.”

Somebody is getting something out of all of this teacup tempest in Missouri, and if it was me I would pick the football coach stirring all of this up to draw attention away from the team’s lousy record.

You could do a movie like that if you could cast Bill Murray circa 1985 as the coach.

  2. That’s an interesting column. Whitlock himself certainly wasn’t immune to the lure of race-baiting, at least earlier in his career. This almost reads like he’s realized some things about the political side he’s always been aligned with.
