My RedState post on Trump’s claim about Jersey City Muslims is up.

Found here. Short version: …I wrote this through gritted teeth. And I at least mildly resent that I had to write it in the first place.

  1. I keep waiting for the golden bb that will end Trump’s run … and Hillary’s.

    They seem bulletproof, don’t they?

    1. I think they’re bulletproof for different reasons, though. Hillary’s bulletproof because they have no other options at this point, really. Trump’s bulletproof because for a lot of people, it’s not about him, particularly, it’s about sticking it to different people.

Although this specific thing was unlikely to doom him because I suspect a lot of people, like me, remember contemporaneous reports of that precise thing happening – US muslims cheering in some communities. Now the fact that those reports appear to either be false or at a minimum not recorded on video isn’t really a problem, because it’s pretty easy to conflate reports you heard with the videos of various communities worldwide.

And yeah, I’m not a Trump supporter, but if he ends up with the nomination I’ll vote for him. I don’t think it will happen, unless too many candidates stick it out for too long. Although if that does happen, the RedState coverage may be…interesting.

      1. Concur. I’m not a Trump supporter, and I don’t plan to vote for him .. but I’m very much enjoying watching the establishment types .. bodily fabricate masonry construction units .. over his antics.

I’m not surprised to see Moe gritting his teeth in defense of New Jersey either, although – as noted below, and consulting the Moe Lane Zen Flow Chart – there are Dems who deserve much more flambe’ over suchlike.

      1. Donald Trump made a specific claim that he saw thousands of Jersey City residents cheering the destruction of the Twin Towers. Show me the video of that happening. That’s the beginning and the end of it.

        1. Any number greater than zero is unacceptable. It does not matter (to me) whether the celebrations included thousands, hundreds, or dozens. The important point is that these celebrations occurred. And occurred openly.

And no, even though I am a news junkie, I did not know that they had happened.
Trump just provided a valuable public service by informing us of something that had successfully been swept under the rug.

          1. Muslim citizens of this country celebrating 9-11 is a scandal.
The news media covering up the existence of these celebrations is a scandal.
A politician exaggerating an actual occurrence is not a scandal.
