So I went to go see Superman vs. Batman.

…I’m not exactly sure why people are so freaked out. I mean, it’s a perfectly decent popcorn superhero flick. Pretentious in a lot of places, but then it’s DC, so you expect that, right? Ben Affleck was fine, Henry Cavill was fine, Gal Gadot has sold me on a Wonder Woman solo flick. It’s not going to be the best movie I see this year, but It Did Not Suck.

Nonetheless: there is existing theme music for these characters. Iconic theme music. I would appreciate it if the studios started using that music. They’re not going to improve on what they already have, so they should stop trying.

      1. I thought so.
And the flames shooting out if it were pretty cool.
It was the unicycle that took the thing off the cliffs of insanity into the deep surreal.

        1. BTW, if you haven’t read Michael Stackpole’s “In Hero Years… I’m Dead.” it’s a great (affectionate) novelization of the superhero genre. Highly recommend.

  1. Glad you liked it, sir! I think Alfred really made the film, and I liked him doing the “brain work” while Batman went off his rocker. Liked the set up for the Justice League. The freak out is very weird, yes.

  2. There are a lot of actors who wish they could have been paid millions of dollars while they learned how to act, like Ben Affleck…

  3. Honestly, I think it would take a pretty genius arranger to make something out of the 70s Wonder Woman theme music that would work outside of, well, the 70s.
