OK, they FINALLY got the Spider-Man trailer up.

Spider-Man: Homecoming looks… good.  I’ve been burned before on this sort of thing, but it looks like it’s going to be about Peter proving that he’s not a kid. Which is going to be a nice change from the usual origin story.

  1. The biggest problem I have is that it seems… standard.

    Wacky friend? Check.

    Hot love interest/crush? Check.

Awkward hero (in some aspect) assuring identification with the comic fan? Check.

Bland, menacing villain from central casting? Check.

Marvel has made a business of making movies that are pretty much formulaic. Doctor Strange was slightly different in that the main character was made VERY unsympathetic at the beginning, but that is also in precedent by Tony Stark.

I am not saying I dislike any of the movies I have seen (by and large I like the formula), but it does make it hard to get excited by one.

      1. I am really glad Keaton and Kurt Russell are getting roles in these movies (Russell is going to be in the new GotG.) I really like both of those guys.

    1. I don’t know. Marvel hasn’t really done a straight-up, non-origins coming-of-age template yet. This could be interesting.

  2. When keaton flashed by i wasnt sure it was him. its cool that it is, and we FINALLY get the Vulture.
