If for no other reason than Russell Crowe is in it as Dr. Jekyll, which means that at some point in this series he’s going to go literally Mr. Hyde on somebody, and I’m kind of looking forward to that. I had a heck of a good time watching Russell Crowe in The Nice Guys, after all. And I’m admittedly also kind of looking forward to seeing them go the full Universal Monsters route. It’s been eighty years since they made those flicks, after all. That’s enough time, surely.

This really is not as easy as it looks, you know. That poor bastard of a short story is now going to spend probably the next two years being submitted hither and yon, and then probably expire of old age in a digital file somewhere. And it’s gonna break my heart two, three times in the process. I totally understand why so many people freeze up at this point…
My Patreon short story: ‘Processing Duty.’
I think of “Processing Duty” as my little endorsement of the idea that you can get used to anything, really. Which is kind of funny, considering that my favorite horror fiction is Lovecraftian, which more or less explicitly denies that you can. I guess I just have a complicated worldview… or possibly one that I don’t examine too closely for internal consistency.
