The ‘Iron Fist’ series trailer.

The preparations are complete.  Now Marvel prepares for the next stage of its machinations. Which will be awesome, because a Defenders series probably means… yup.  Squirrel Girl.  At the bare minimum, there’ll be a cameo.

(Iron Fist drops March 17th.)

    1. Squirrel Girl seems to have been created as Marvel’s internal antidote for when their superhero universe appears to be about to drown in its own pretentious bullsh*t.

    2. Villains start rethinking their life choices when they hear Squirrel Girl is on her way. Friends with Galactus, has defeated the likes of Doctor Doom, Thanos, and MODOK. She has even gone toe-to-toe with Deadpool and Wolverine, and lived.

      1. I understood about 1/8 of what you just wrote ..
which should tell you just how much attention I pay to Marvel comic books. (‘s just not how I geek out)

That said .. hanging a lampshade on excessively insane contrivances is sometimes the best answer.

        1. She was originally created as a silly one-shot character (her power is quite literally to have a bunch of squirrel sidekicks; and she has a squirrel tail). But due to various reasons that I won’t get into here, a meme that she was unbeatable appeared. Marvel started to use her. It was slow at first, but then more and more. Now she even has her own series.

Of course, now that she’s in the big leagues, it’s probably only a matter of time before some writer ruins her. But in the meantime, she’s a character who harkens back to the older ages of comics. And who can beat every supervillain, no matter how powerful, that makes the mistake of crossing her path (note that most of her victories happen conveniently just off-screen).

AIM calls her the Anti-Life. Deadpool (i.e. “That evil evil man!”) wears Squirrel Girl boxers.

  1. Regardless of the fate of Squirrel Girl, the trailer makes me want to see the show. Which hasn’t really happened with the other Defenders.

  2. Does she, like, steal tomatoes from the bad guys? ‘Cause the squirrels in my neighborhood are always stealing my tomatoes.
