Man, they’re taking down the Tappan Zee Bridge.

We used to take it when driving from NJ to Boston (and wasn’t that a fun ride*), to avoid dealing with NYC traffic.  But it was old:

Plans to take down the 63-year-old bridge piece by piece changed on Sept. 7, 2018, when workers heard a loud pop come off the steel superstructure…

Yeaaaah I’m gonna stop you right there.  When the bridge starts popping, make things start dropping.  Still. Piece of my childhood, and all that.

PS: OTOH, it’s just a bridge, man.

*I love my parents, but I still remember the first time I was driving with somebody on a long trip as an adult, said “I gotta use the bathroom” and then we stopped at the next rest stop.  I was amazed.  It felt vaguely… unsanctioned.
