I need to process this BIRDS OF PREY trailer a little more.
The problem is, I am trying to match it up with THE JOKER, which is coming out soon. I know that I should not be, but in a very odd way the two movies seem to be almost… congruent? Not because they are similar, but possibly because each one promises to be drastically f*cked up in the head, so they feel kind of the same. I also suspect that this Harley Quinn will like the new Joker more than she ended up liking the old Joker. Take that as you will.

From what I’ve heard, the new Joker movie (with Joaquin Phoenix, that’s the one you’re talking about, right?) aren’t in the same universe–this one doesn’t even have any connection to Batman, and I don’t think there’s a Joker in the Quinn movie.
Yup. But, somehow, they feel similar to me. Or at least like they’re revolving around each other. Or something.

I was a bit disappointed on hearing that about the Joker movie but I may still see it–just have to think of it as a completely unrelated story with a coincidental name.
I can’t blame you for liking Suicide Squad. I did too. It was ultimately a bad movie, but it was a glorious mess of a bad movie…and there was a GREAT anti-hero teamup flick lurking in there somewhere, buried under the mounds of bad logic.
I have a low bar for liking DC movies, and Suicide Squad cleared it. I believe this will do the same.
