There will be free DLC for CYBERPUNK 2077*.

The asterisk represents the unfortunate* truth that CYBERPUNK 2077’s DLC will likely be effectively for just the PC. This is merely a guess – the website doesn’t say anything – but I imagine that CD Projekt Red is going to be more interested in first fixing the main console versions before they get around to adapting the DLC, too. They do it the other way, they’re just making more work for themselves later.

Well, the good news here is that there’s going to be free DLC. CDPR did it up pretty nice in WITCHER 3: everything from tweaks in appearance to actual new quests. I’m glad they’re keeping that up in CYBERPUNK 2077.

*From a certain point of view.

  1. *struggles to refrain throwing gasoline, matches, and white phosphorous into the PC vs Console wars*

Kidding (sort-of) aside … CP 2077 looks interesting since I played the old-school tabletop RPG back in The Day, but I still haven’t finished Witcher 3, which I’ve been assured is an excellent PC RPG.

Heck, I only made it to the first card mini-game thing before I stopped, and the controls were more convoluted than I was willing to learn.

My middle-school aged son is obsessed with getting CP, but it really strikes me as wayyyy inappropriate for that age bracket. Some day, maybe. When he moves out of the house and can support himself. 🙂

    1. Middle school? I’d say your impression is on the mark. To put it mildly. There is a lot of sexual content, but I am not even sure that is the most potentially destructive. There is quite a bit of philosophical BS in here.

Control wise, the game is pretty accessible. Sort of. Stealth is extraordinarily powerful in this game. If you also spec into say, net running, you can wipe vast numbers of people without them even seeing you and the game almost becomes trivial. BUT. The big problem is that some situations- you are not always in stealth. If you spec too much on a glass cannon stealth build, the game will punish you pretty harshly.

The system seems to be designed in such a way as where a jack of all trades is pretty powerful.

        1. Contagion. But, as I said, it got kind of boring. Plus, there seem to be some encounters where your casting is disabled. Not sure if it is a bug or what. It is hard to say what is a bug and what is intended sometimes. The most recent patch seemed to fix some things, but disabled the Delamain quest for me. It is strange, but the game was most stable for me in it’s earliest configuration.

  2. You are assuming that adding content to the console version takes more effort than compiling again with different settings. Now it probably should, but it might not take very much. Also, the people adding content and the people fixing the console versions might be disjoint.
