Sony to Netflix to… Mouse.

Ha! Was able to match the original scansion. Anyway: “Disney has set a massive movie licensing pact with Sony Pictures for the U.S. that promises to bring Spider-Man and other Marvel properties to Disney Plus starting with Sony’s 2022 release slate… The agreement comes on the heels of Sony’s output deal with Netflix for titles in the lucrative post-theatrical release Pay 1 window.”

So, basically: Netflix gets Sony’s stuff first, then it ends up on Disney+ or Hulu or wherever the Mouse holds sway. Which is a better deal for me than yet another streaming service. Which I think I’ve said before.

PS: I had to get cable again, for the first time in almost two decades. Why? Because I literally couldn’t combine my Internet and new phone line without TV coming along for the ride. I wonder what Starlink is gonna look like, two years from now…

  1. You still have a landline? I mean, to each their own, but .. internet provider and a VOIP device ..

  2. Coinkadinkally, we just dropped cable and phone recently and have internet-only now. Dropped the monthly bill by 25% in doing so.
Ever since hooking up Fire sticks to the wifi and TVs everything is streamed, and the only things we (used to) switched to the cable input for was news and sports. All sports committed Hari-Kari, as did local and national news organizations, and even the traffic and weather reports became unimportant when you no longer need to leave the house for work or school.

So to recap: More money in my pocket, less money to a Cable conglomerate, zero ad revenue going to communists. All in all a good deal.
