10/29/21 Snippet, TINSEL RAIN.

Crap ghouls!

That earned me a scowl — and then a frown as Mira, you know, really looked at the thing. “Wait, is this a necrófago?” The frown got deeper. “Somebody’s been at it, though.”

“No kidding?” Now that she said what it was, or I guess what it had started out as, I could recognize it, too. Necrófagos are creatures that like to eat, well, crap. And rats. Oh, and giant spiders, although they hunt those in packs. There’s tons of the things in the Cin City sewer system, where there’s an abundant supply of the first food item, and these days very little of the other two.

And the reason why Mira was frowning was that dealing with necrófagos was a Syndicate thing. The creatures don’t bother people, at least while the people are alive; and they definitely don’t jab messed-up bone needles in other’s feet. This was, as they say, worrisome behavior.
