Tweet Thread of the Day, Marvel Does Not Care About Urban Traffic Conditions, Part 43 edition.

This is hysterical, very educational, and reminds me of the most ridiculous part of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Which is, of course, the part where they had a high-speed car chase and shoot-out in downtown Washington, DC. …And where, precisely, would there be room for that?

  1. Some funny stuff at the link.

“Every bus has a fire extinguisher, and we check every day before we pull out of the yard. It is intended for exactly these situations.”

  2. This.

Movies are usually, in one way or another, presenting something false as true… and sometimes many small falsehoods are needed to get the narrative wheels to turn….
    .
I could (and have) pick apart the computer bits of Jurassic Park .. where Silicon Graphics visuals pop up on an IBM PC …

I almost want to ask the bus driver to do ‘Speed’…

  3. Last night I watched an episode of Ray Donovan partly set in New York. He’s walking aimlessly in Manhattan and then suddenly ends up on a park bench on Roosevelt Island (as one does) without ever crossing a bridge or boarding any conveyance that could have possibly taken him there.
The rules of geography and local transport do not apply to TV and movies. The only rule is, “Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown.”
