Just let Dragon Age 4 die already, Bioware.

This says it all, really: “Dragon Age 4 has been a long time coming and BioWare still doesn’t have much to show for all the years it has spent developing the RPG. And even though there still isn’t much to reveal about the game, the team gave an update on its development, which coincided with another lead leaving the team.

I know the franchise is dead, or at least better off that way. ComingSoon does, too. Shoot, even Bioware itself must realize this by now. So… kill it. Kill it, and Mass Effect, and have done with the whole sorry affair.

  1. Let’s be honest. BioWare has been dead since for a while and began dying as soon as EA bought them. EA is poison.

  2. Dragon Age was such a great world, honestly.

-the stuff with the dwarves was straight out of Tolkien- but more as a ‘Khazad-dum is falling’ than ‘Moria has Fallen.’ The sequence in the original game where you go through the destroyed Dwarven fortress is still one of the creepier gaming memories I have. Good atmosphere. Just right.

-I liked the Seven dragon Ultimate evil idea. Sure it was a bit too close to civilizational destruction on the same scale as the Reapers, but it worked.

-Dragon Age II was where things started to go wrong. I get the idea to make the protagonist in the same mold as the very popular Commander Shepherd, but the more heavy RPG element was one thing that DISTINGUISHED DA from ME. Plus, releasing the game in an unfinished state helped no one. And they decided to go in a completely different direction from the grand arc they set up in the first game. That’s fine as long as you have something to replace it with. ‘Something’ that is good.

-Inquisition. Time has not been good to this one. I am still trying to figure out what the heck they were trying to accomplish here. Both it and Andromeda suffer from the same basic fault: Lack of inspiration and no real overarching story to push the series forward. That and the PeeBee/Elven Archer personality type. I never got that when that started popping up in Bioware games. Did one of the guys (or gals) have a girlfriend like that (I feel sorry for him or her?)

And let me take this opportunity to say here: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND YOUR OWN BODY- DO NOT TOUCH KOTOR! You cannot possibly even hope to think about possibly equaling the original- even if you just remastered it. Because you could not help but try to ‘improve’ it could you?
