So, is ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED any good?

I saw the trailer for ARK the show, and I’m kind of “Ehh, it looks okay, I guess” – but apparently the game lets you ride dinosaurs? I could be down with that.

  1. I don’t have any personal experience with it, but an acquaintance of mine played the MMO for a long time before quitting, because he was tired of raiders who’d attack his base while he was off line. They’d ransack everything he’d built up, and he was stuck starting over again. He liked the training / upgrading dinos aspect of the game, and if he wasn’t getting reset essentially every week, he’d probably still be playing.
I think the game is single player as well, so I’m not sure why he didn’t stick to that.

    1. I’ve played SWTOR that can be done completely single player, and it’s possible but lonely to do so. Other MMOs that have single player servers for non-PVP can sometimes be almost abandoned, while the PVP ones are at their limit. People like competition.

  2. I tried it.
I spent about an hour dealing with the clunky interface and unsuccessfully trying to figure out what was going on, what I was supposed to do about it, and why I should care.
Then I quit, and uninstalled the game.
    Maybe it’s better on PC.

I didn’t know it was an MMO until I read the above comments. I thought it was just another bad survival-themed single player game.
(Here I insert the obligatory plug that Subnautica is a VERY GOOD survival-themed single player game, and everybody should try it.)
