Tweet of the Day, Sony Does Not Want Its HQ Visited By A Torch-Wielding Mob edition.

In case you were wondering why they’ve never acted on this. No jury would convict…

  1. Is it context-sensitive? That is to say, could I preface the brand name with a certain vulgar verb and end the ad, or does the brand name have to be uttered entirely alone?

Because I for one would completely enjoy shouting “F-word [brand name]” every time a commercial came on. Truth to tell, I do so regularly already; might as well get some tangible results from it.

  2. What’s the ADA workaround for mutes, and how large will the ‘that’s racist’ lawsuit be from accented folks the system doesn’t recognize?

  3. The AI wars this could have spawned, with the products that listen and as soon as they identify the commercial calling out to skip it, then with the checks to make sure the call out wasn’t recorded, etc

It would have brought the internet browser arms race for advertising to the home TV. I wouldn’t want to see it but the mocking, comedic spoofs, and parodies would have been grand.

I am now doubly glad that I do not watch TV.
