Tweet of the Day, Sometimes You Just Gotta Get Stuck In edition.

You can tell the teams to play nice, but if you keep booing the national anthem* where American hockey players can hear you eventually it’s gonna be Go Time when the buzzer goes off.

This is usually the point where I’m supposed to say something pious about not condoning violence.

*From the ESPN article:

This was the fastest fight to start an NHL international game, topping the previous record of 20 seconds in 1996 when Canada’s Keith Primeau and Claude Lemieux fought Team USA’s Keith Tkachuk and Bill Guerin in the World Cup of Hockey. Tkachuk is the father of Team USA players Matthew and Brady Tkachuk. Guerin is the U.S. general manager in the 4 Nations Face-Off.

Note that Tkachuk brothers were in the first and second fight, respectively. This is old school business.

  1. Brings to mind the old saw “You wouldn’t believe it, we went to the big fight and a *hockey* game broke out!”

Clan Tkuchuck respects The Olde Ways.

  2. Booing a team is expected.

    Booing an anthem is not.

In less civilized times wars were started for less.

    Maybe we are TOO civilized.
