Because dear Lord but the assumptions all tangled up in here.

So, hey, imagine that all the Disney Kingdoms formed up a mega-Kingdom, and they elected the Beast King, only now it’s a couple decades later and they’re going to give the Kingdom to his and Belle’s kid, who wants to bring out four kids from internal exile – oh, yeah, forgot: the Kingdom has this entire low-tech and magic-free prison island where dissidents and their families are kept. Forever – and have those kids go to prep school. Said children – who are, by the way, the children of four of the worst Disney villains*, because of course – will now break into a musical dance number which will hopefully demonstrate why this is such a bad idea on general principles.
…In a way, this is kind of epic. In fact, it might be the basis for my next roleplaying campaign. I am giving it serious thought.

*Yes. This would logically mean that said villains all had sex. No, I don’t know why I made sure to tell you that, either. Because there’s not enough Deep Hurting in the world?
You could tell an interesting story along those lines- kids of villains, poor upbringing, trying to make something of themselves/ having goals for life and having a really difficult time.
But these kids? They’re reveling in being bad. They steal, they bully people around, one of the girls vamps her way into getting what she wants. Maybe the real story is “idealistic good kid frees evil kids, hilarity/death ensues.” Dunno. Wicked for pre-teens?
My eldest, who is 8, cannot wait for this show. For whatever that’s worth.
No.
Oh, the show promises to be awful. But I could totally GM a campaign on the premise.
Yeah, but would you really want to revisit memories of high school?
Many gamers do, provided that they get to have gear and class abilities appropriate to their new level while doing so.
The prequel, ABC’s Once Upon a Soap-opera, deals with the parents in similar nauseating manner, albeit with less canned music.
We did a Champions campaign on much the same premise. I played the son of the Ancient One and Umar. Such fun! I made another player jump up and scream at me “How did you do THAT!?!”. Good times…..
Of course, because this is a (modern) Disney film, the putative hero will come out on top thanks to the redemptive power of teenage lust, er, love.
