This week, we leave behind The Breath of God and replace it with Coraline – and I suspect that it’ll be Movie of the Week, too. I quite enjoyed it.

Blond, Purple-Bikini Girl shot first.
Via Vodkapundit, girls in bikinis reading from Star Wars Trilogy . Interestingly, this video had my wife in hysterics, if you define ‘hysterics’ as ‘openly laughed a couple of times.’
I suspect that at least one of the bikini-clad readers has actually watched the trilogy about twenty times. Secret geekdom is one of the tragedies of our time.

It is not the greatest video ever, by the way: there’s no bacon involved. QED.
Trailer: Legion.
I got tipped off to this by a fellow In Nomine enthusiast:
For those who speak In Nomine, it’s a Low-Contrast, Low-Brightness Backwards heresy where Gabriel is a blackwing and Michael’s Outcast. If none of that made any sense to you: angels with Old Testament attitudes and automatic weapons liberally apply both to the landscape.
Yes, of course I’m going to go watch that. I may even get a group together.
Tim Burton’s “9.”
I saw this trailer while watching Coraline last night…
…and yeah. Tim Burton knows what we like; yes, he does.
“Leaving of Liverpool.”
The Leaving Of Liverpool, Dubliners
Not really changing the subject, but the age of twenty-five is… well, it’s not precisely wasted on twenty-five year-olds. But they really should do more in the way of getting feedback on the best way to exploit that state.
Yeah, we have that reputation.
Which is fine by me.
Just to note for the record: while this is very true, I’d also like to note that the man being quoted here voluntarily participated in a naval war against the USA, which was frankly just about as stupid.
Via theblogprof, who is actually talking about something else entirely (H/T: Instapundit).
There really isn’t much difference, is there?
Shatner being serious about the Vic-20.
Shatner being Shatner about World of Warcraft.
You have to wonder if he ever wonders how it is that he ended up with a career where his success depends on how well he can imitate himself. Not that I judge him for that: it’s a living, and at least he’s not selling anything illegal, immoral, or likely to explode.
Wow. Coraline was really good.
I didn’t have the 3-D glasses, so I watched it in 2-D – and I noticed some slowdowns in it from time to time, which I assume was where the 3-D originally was. Still: Coraline was excellent. Rent it, if you haven’t seen it yet.

PS: I am starting to suspect that cats are Neil Gaiman’s spirit animals.
I’m done with health care posts until Monday.
It’s a fascinating topic, and a very important one – but it can wait a day or two. I sincerely doubt that anything really essential’s going to take place on Sunday and I’m tired of having to concentrate on it. Because I don’t have to.
So: District 9. Anybody see that yet? I was going to, then not going to based on the first reviews, but the reviews are coming in and they seem to indicate that the first reviews were all written by people smoking crack. Opinions?
Off to the fair…
…the rest of you, go out and enjoy the sunshine, or something. It’s a glorious day out.
