The Obligatory ‘High School Kids Do Alien Play’ video.

(Via Hot Air) Come, I will conceal nothing from you: I had not realized that these high school students were showing the technical prowess of a performing arts college drama department and the scrounging skills of a skinny World War II PFC nicknamed ‘Bucky’ by the platoon.

Seriously, that’s some higher-level stuff there. The students did it on a budget of five grand, which should be prominently mentioned on all of their college applications. That stuff is admissions criteria gold, friends. Gold!

On the Lovecraftian nature of United 93.

There have been sufficient people asking about my observation here that the most successful Lovecraft/Mythos movies made were Alien, Pleasantville, and United 93 – particularly the last one – that I will attempt to explain what I meant there.  Let’s dispose of Alien quickly: malevolent universe, deliberately hostile towards humanity; overwhelming doom – everybody on-board with that one?  We good?  Good.
