No, really. Limited theatrical release (December 12-24), they shot something like eight new scenes, did the whole thing it as a sendup of The Princess Bride, they’re donating part of the proceeds to charity, they kidnapped Fred Savage, and then did the whole thing up as Once Upon a Deadpool. Calling this a ‘gimmick film’ seems a bit harsh; they’re really working at milking the joke, here.

My mini-review of Deadpool 2.
Short version: It Did Not Suck. I liked it. Deadpool 2 may not take itself entirely seriously, but it takes me seriously, and does not wish to waste my time.
Deadpool 2 tomorrow!
Finally. I think that tomorrow is the first day in about two weeks where I didn’t have something or other scheduled. Well, except for grocery shopping, but there’s a supermarket right next to the movie theater.
I am looking forward to finally seeing Deadpool 2: I have been reassured that It Does Not Suck. I even have some marginal, small, likely futile hope that Solo will likewise not, to quote the colorful argot of my childhood, ‘blow chunks.’ Heck, if Incredibles 2 is likewise good then I will have seen five movies in theaters this year that were worth seeing in theaters. This is hardly a guaranteed outcome.

It looks like it just works. I mean, I’ll know when I actually see the movie. And I am absolutely going to go see this movie when it comes out in May. Deadpool 2 is on my must-not-miss list.

I am there. And then I am waiting for my children to leave for college before I buy Deadpool 2 on DVD. Obviously.

I can’t actually watch this right now: the kids are home from school because of ice and whatnot. Managed to get about forty seconds in before I remembered that Deadpool does not have a filter. At all. But it looks good!

Some language, some shots of buttocks, very possibly some violations of other studios’ IP. Unless they got permission to use the Superman theme song there, and maybe they even did? I’d personally say yes, if I was the studio that had the rights.
