John Boehner essentially ignores Harry Reid’s ‘request,’ tells Senate to send over DHS bill.

This response is either a display of the Hawaiian good-luck symbol to Harry Reid, or simply an indication that the Senate is just going to have to shove this thing into conference. Your guess is as good as mine: “U.S. House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday said House Republican leaders were waiting for the Senate to act on legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security.” I mean, personally I would prefer the Hawaiian good-luck symbol, but I can’t pretend that a conference to resolve the differences in the House and Senate DHS bills is a low probability. Guess we’ll see.

#rsrh DHS gearing up for massive FAST lawsuits.

I cannot see how this could possibly go wrong at all:

Don’t even think about terrorism when passing through an airport – as a futuristic Minority Report-style security programme could catch you out.

The Future Attribute Screening Technology (FAST) security programme is designed to spot people who are planning to commit a terrorist act.

The U.S. government system can ‘sense’ when you are planning and measures physiological factors such as heart rates and eye movements.

Apparently, the concept of ‘false positive’ seems to have eluded DHS*. Not to mention the one called ‘defamation of character lawsuit.’  Hopefully, somebody will clue them into both before this goes much further.

*My wife – possibly pedantically – wants me to admit that the concept of ‘false positive’ probably has not eluded the actual people working on this project. So noted, but they’re not going to be the ones with the disposable gloves.

#rsrh DHS on the job 24/7, 364 days a year!

At least, DHS is on the job 24/7/364 according to Secretary Janet Napolitano, who did not mention what happens on the other day. Hot Air and Mediate have both speculated on which day is apparently the mulligan:

On the one hand: a meaningless mistake. On the other hand: a highly symbolic and distressingly familiar type of mistake. On the gripping hand: live by the hyper-critical word parsing, die by the hyper-critical word parsing, ye Left. As you can imagine, my sympathies are… muted.
