Politico proves Gingrich’s point for him on Obama and the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

Quite handily, in fact.

OK, if you followed the debate in Arizona last night then you got to see Newt Gingrich consume a moderator’s liver for what may be the last time.  The topic? Double standards in the media, particularly when it comes to ‘extremist’ positions.  The transcript is as follows:

GINGRICH: But I just want to point out, you did not once in the 2008 campaign, not once did anybody in the elite media ask why Barack Obama voted in favor of legalizing infanticide. OK? So let’s be clear here.

(APPLAUSE)

GINGRICH: If we’re going to have a debate about who the extremist is on these issues, it is President Obama who, as a state senator, voted to protect doctors who killed babies who survived the abortion. It is not the Republicans.

Occupy DC throws smoke bomb at White House… AND WAS NOT MADE TO RETREAT?

Just for calibration… back in April of 2009 I attended the DC Tax Day Tea Party; and one of the more interesting moments of that day was when a box was found to have been thrown over the White House fence, causing the US Secret Service to pretty much push everybody out of Lafayette Park.  Never knew who threw the box (obviously, nothing in it), could have been an overenthusiastic protester, could have been a Lefty troublemaker, but hey, rules are rules. Jonathan Bryant calls George Rodriguez a Nazi.

Jonathan Bryant is a teacher for the San Antonio Edgewood Independent School District; George Rodriguez is the president of the San Antonio Tea Party.  The video is below.

More details here… which do not include Jonathan Bryant’s name, although they were happy to include George’s.  The teacher, by the way, will not be be subject for discipline by his school district for calling Rodriguez a Nazi; there’s not even an indication that Jonathan Bryant was required, or will be required, to apologize for his language.  Well, you know how it is with liberal academics.  They’ve long discovered that they can say whatever they like to conservative minorities (or perceived conservative minorities), and nobody on their side will say boo.

Jay Carney’s ‘shuck-and-jive.’

Hey.  It’s a direct quote, OK?

Alternate title: Jay Carney is starting to crack under the strain.

Two thoughts about this:

  1. Apparently – and contra Andrew Cuomo – you can shuck and jive at an Obama press conference after all.
  2. I do not look forward with some interest to seeing how Pam Spaulding of Pandagon (and the above Huffington Post/Talking Points Memo writer, and every other person who freaked out about the Cuomo thing during the 2008 election) manages the mental readjustment necessary to simultaneously excuse attacking a white Hillary Clinton supporter for using the term then, while forgiving a white Obama staffer for using the term now. That’s because I can’t see how such a readjustment can be done without some form of trepanning.

Hey. Live by the hardline attitude on language, die by it. Not my fault.

Jonah Goldberg is tired of the vicious hypocrisy of these people…

…for that matter, so am I.

‘These people’ being the media, and their contemptible willingness to accept a double standard when it comes to violent rhetoric.  After screaming for so long about every possible hint of a suggestion of a possibility of violent speech from the Right, it’s amazing what will be forgiven when it comes from the Left:

Tom Friedman — who knows a bit about Hezbollah — calls the tea partiers the “Hezbollah faction” of the GOP bent on taking the country on a “suicide mission.” All over the place, conservative Republicans are “hostage takers” and “terrorists,” “terrorists” and “traitors.” They want to “end life as we know it on this planet,” says Nancy Pelosi. They are betraying the founders, too. Chris Matthews all but signs up for the “Make an Ass of Yourself” contest at the State Fair.  Joe Nocera writes today that “the Tea Party Republicans can put aside their suicide vests.” Lord knows what Krugman and Olbermann have said.

Then last night. on the very day Gabby Giffords heroically returns to cast her first vote since that tragic attack six months ago, the Vice President of the United States calls the Republican Party a bunch of terrorists.

Regardless, No one cares.

Question of the day, Patriarchal Feminists For Weiner edition.

A simple question, with teeth in it:

The Anthony Weiner scandal has created a dilemma for female Democrats who are turned on by his politics but turned off by his sexual shenanigans.

…Why?
