QotD, George Lucas edition.

Nodwick makes one prediction of many:

9. George Lucas will announce his next movie, “Indiana Jones and the Saber of Light.” Nerds will eschew rioting and complaining, as they begin to look upon George as a demented relative who “just does that kind of thing, it’s sad, really.”

Given that prior to seeing this I spent five minutes explaining to my wife* how I would have redone a completely hypothetical prequel trilogy to the ONLY EXISTING STAR WARS TRILOGY… yeah.

*I’d regale you with the details of said redoing, except that all of you could have written a better prequel trilogy in your sleep, too.

Why you feel like a fraud, explained. #rsrh

This essay (via Nodwick) is too good to skip and really can’t be excerpted. Suffice it to say that it will explain:

  • Why you feel like a fraud when otherwise intelligent and observant people praise you for competence;
  • Why there are two types of ignorance; and
  • Why only one of those types is a type that you should worry about.

No.  Really, it will.  I promise.  To give a hint, the essay (approvingly) quotes Donald Rumsfeld’s most famous poem (possibly to the author’s bemusement).

I… I may have to get a Wii, now (Disney Steampunk game).

(Via Nodwick) Yes, you saw that right.

Steampunk Disney game.

Supposedly For realReally.

More great-googley-moogley pictures at the link.  I’ve been holding out on the Wii – it’d probably wreck my blogging schedule for a while – but [when] this comes out?

Wow.

The end of a war that you’ve never heard of.

Well, that some of you have never heard of. Apparently there is a game called EVE Online. It’s a space genre Massively Mutiplayer Online computer game (resource gathering & strategic fighting), and it had a full-fledged “evil empire” alliance in it that everybody else in the game universe was gunning for… and was unable to destroy. And somebody just destroyed it.

I’m bringing the story to your attention because it’s fascinating reading, even if you don’t play MMPOs. It apparently involved treason, a complicated shell game, alternate identities, and the loss/transferal of resources with a game value of billions and a real-world value of tens of thousands of dollars. Plus, the webcomic that Aaron Williams did on the subject gives you an idea of just how far the bailout meme has penetrated the non-political ‘sphere.
