Worse than you think, Ace.

When you’re a Democrat, not only can you use “I’m sleeping with her” as a stealth job prerequisite for an US Attorney’s positionHI, Senator Max Baucus (D) of Montana! – but when you’re a Democrat you can also publicly disrespect inconveniently conscientious female journalists (even if they’re African-American ones) when they insist on doing their jobs. Although I will admit that at least Bobby Gibbs didn’t use the word ‘uppity’ in public:

Yet.  They’ll be saving it for after the midterms, no doubt.

The White House and V.

This isn’t a post on whether or not the parallels between the Visitors of the show and the current administration are deliberate or accidental; it’s not even a post on whether the parallels are fair, for given values of ‘fair*.’ It’s a post on whether we’re seriously expected to believe that the White House isn’t monitoring the program.

Please. 14 million people watched it last Tuesday. That’s a number that’s in the same general vicinity of Rush Limbaugh’s weekly numbers (at a guess), and there’s been a buzz for months that this miniseries wasn’t going to be about the hopeandchange.  Expecting us to believe that any administration as obsessed with how it’s perceived as this one is hasn’t kept an eye on V is as about as realistic as expecting us to believe that either the Tea Party movement, or last week’s elections in New Jersey & Virginia, passed without the administration monitoring developments.

Which is to say, it’s not realistic to expect that.

*In the broadest sense, it’s fairly obvious that the President is not a Reptoid wearing a flesh mask and sporting a desire for anthropophagy**.

Gibbs’ Bushitler amnesia.

[UPDATE] Welcome, Instapundit readers.

Remember: nothing prior to 01/20/2009 is REAL to these people.  And that includes all the fools that they encouraged to go mad for the Democrats’ political benefit.

You hear in this debate, you hear analogies, you hear references to, you see pictures about and depictions of individuals that are truly stunning, and you hear it all the time. People — imagine five years ago somebody comparing health care reform to 9/11. Imagine just a few years ago had somebody walked around with images of Hitler. Hopefully we can get back to a discussion about the issues that are important in this country that we can do so without being personally disagreeable and set up comparisons to things that were so insidious in our history that anybody in any profession or walk of life would be well advised to compare nothing to those atrocities.

See Mary Katharine Ham & Hot Air for more: see here and here for images along those lines.  And yes: there’s more.  There’s disturbingly more, in fact.

Hey, does Gibbs read Instapundit?

Check out the bobble at the end.  Not conclusive, but at least worth noting.

Via Scott Ott‘s Facebook account; I agree with Scott that Chip Reid’s asking a legitimate question about Reagan’s notable lack of a Nobel Peace Prize*.  I will also note that my wife laughed out loud at Gibbs’ suggestion that the Washington pundit class get out more; so did I, but that was also because Gibbs needs to be at the head of that particular line.

Moe Lane

*I already know the answer, though.  So does Scott.  So does Chip Reid.  Heck, so does Gibbs.  But really, what is he going to say? “Well, they led my boss in unto temptation, and he’s enthusiastic about giving in?”

Which is the real reason that they never offered it to Reagan.  He would have accepted it, graciously – and then used it to further his vision of peace, not the Nobel prize committee’s.

Robert Gibbs: Umm, actually there hasn’t been an increase in death threats.

(Via Instapundit) A surprisingly clear statement, given the source. Perhaps he’s been yelled at?

There has been no increase in the number of security threats to President Barack Obama despite the contentious town hall meetings taking place around the country, according to the White House.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs also said Friday there has been no change in the security precautions.

“We haven’t viewed any increase in threats, and there’s been no change in any of that,” Gibbs said.

Or perhaps it’s just that the administration just realizes that while it may be in the best interests of Mark Potok and the SPLC to push their political fetish porn about how there’s a scary right-wing mob out there THAT COULD SNAP AT ANY MINUTE! – it’s not really in the best interests of the administration itself, to say nothing of the country. Particularly with the administration’s popularity currently hovering around 47%.  Turns out calling people names makes them less likely to love you.

Who knew?

Robert Gibbs and the Carpetbag Steak.

Sort of like a point/counterpoint.

Palate cleanser, as Allahpundit likes to say.

It’s bad when the White House press pool can’t keep a straight face.

Anyway, you’ll need a palate cleanser in order to properly appreciate this recipe for carpetbag steak (via @EdDriscoll). I don’t even really like oysters, and this sounds tasty.

Behold the eloquence of Robert Gibbs…

as he answers questions about Senator Feinstein’s concerns.

Miss the days of the Bush administration yet? After all, back then you didn’t walk away with the impression that the press flack you were talking to was even more subject to the mushroom treatment than you were.
