Stan Lee rushed to hospital.

Link to ComingSoon so you won’t have to read it on TMZ. They say that he’s fine, but Stan Lee is also 95 years old. Under those kinds of circumstances,  ‘fine’ is one of those terms that typically has ‘all things considered’ attached to it somewhere.

My prayers for his recovery and continuing good health.

So, yeah, a Stan Lee action flick biography…

…sounds pretty weird, for the reasons suggested here:

I mean, yes, I’d watch it anyway.  I’d maybe not watch the Stan Lee parody flick shown above, but that’s in large part because it’s drawing a heck of a lot from the Death Wish ethos, and while there’s nothing wrong with that flavor of 1970s dystopia it’s just not really compatible with Stan Lee.  But if they did a crazy Kung Fu blaxpoitation flick with colored-light aliens everywhere and maybe Elvis… yeah, actually, that’s the sort of flick where you’d want Stan Lee as action hero. Make it happen, Hollywood.

Fox to make movie of Stan Lee’s life.

I wonder if he’ll be in it?  I’m not joking, because this is gonna be a gonzo product:

Stan Lee’s story is coming to the big screen.

Yes, the iconic creator of many of Marvel Comics’ most beloved characters has made countless appearances in films. But this time, it’s a slice of Lee’s life that is getting the cinematic treatment — though not in the way you might expect.

Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the X-Men andFantastic Four franchises, has acquired Lee’s life rights with a goal of creating a period action-adventure movie, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

I believe that the word ‘shameless’ may appear prominently in the eventual reviews of this movie.  Deservedly. Not that I mind, though.  Shameless is sometimes highly entertaining.

$750 million lawsuit filed against Marvel Entertainment.

Guess it’s settled whether there’s money in that franchise, huh?

According to the Associated Press, a lawsuit was filed yesterday in a Manhattan federal court on behalf of four shareholders of Stan Lee Media, Inc. against Stan Lee, his partner Arthur Lieberman, his wife Joan Clayton, Marvel Entertainment, Inc. and producer Avi Arad. The four unnamed shareholders are seeking more then $750 million in profits from films based on Marvel characters, including “Spider-Man,” “X-Men” and “Iron Man.”

While details are still trickling in regarding specifics to the case, the AP reports that the lawsuit claims profits from Lee’s comic creations belong to the company after emerging from bankruptcy in 2006. The suit claims Lee and the others named in the proceedings ignored the company and shareholder’s interests.

I came across this while looking up Watchmen info – see Moe succumb to the Fanboy side of the Force! Succumb, Moe, succumb! – and while I figure that this will probably get settled it’s still a little interesting. I mean, sure, between the Spiderman movies and the X-Men films and the entire Iron Manmy-God-it’s-full-of-Tony-Starks” thing Marvel must be a hot commodity right now. Still, 750 million’s nothing to sneeze at – even if they’re hoping to “only” score a 100 million or so.

PS: Watchmen comes out in March; Star Trek’s still up for May.  And I don’t know what’s going to be the big summer must-see movies, yet.
