In the E-Mail: THE DAUGHTER OF DOCTOR MOREAU.

I like Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s stuff: she has a feel for gothic-style horror that intrigues. It also turns out that Mexico is fertile territory for the kinds of books that she writes, which is also nice. I’m looking forward to taking my time and enjoying THE DAUGHTER OF DOCTOR MOREAU (I assume that nobody here needs to guess what the novel’s about?).

Book of the Week: The Daughter of Doctor Moreau.

This is a pre-order special; I liked Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s MEXICAN GOTHIC a good deal, and I’m looking forward to The Daughter of Doctor Moreau. It looks like a fun 19th century gothic exercise involving passion and monsters, and I’m there for that sort of thing. Lord knows it can’t be more preachy than the original, either. H.G. Wells was never one to let story get in the way of a good, solid polemic…
