Hrm. They’re releasing the next THE MANDALORIAN episode two days early.

Interesting: “Disney+ has announced that the next episode of The Mandalorian is set to be released early on Wednesday December 18th. The episodes are usually released on Friday, but this next episode will hit Disney+ right before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in theaters.” I hate to admit it, but: I’m much more interested in seeing LITTLE WOMEN next week than I am to see the new Star Wars this week. And I know that I’ll like the new Star Wars, too. I am generally a sucker for them, even now. But I’m not plotting to see it early or anything. We’ll go when we go.

On the other hand: new THE MANDALORIAN episode two days early! That’s awesome. Can’t wait.

Quote of the Day, Proxy Mandalorian Spoilers-A-Go-Go edition.

This is an insightful point (ware spoilers at the link):

This episode is proof that [Jon] Favreau and [Dave] Filoni did what every boy in the ’70s and ’80s did, played a lot of Star Wars in their backyard sandbox. It’s a whose who of cool, but underutilized Star Wars action figures made real.

[snip]

These two and their collaborators on this show, are the luckiest guys and gals in Hollywood right now. They’re making the show that millions of kids dreamed about as they played with their sun faded action figures in the backyard.

Rian Johnson probably won’t direct an episode of THE MANDALORIAN. For a while, at least.

I know that this might be a perverse disappointment for some people: they had issues with THE LAST JEDI*, and some are perhaps ready to renew their subscription.

The Lack Of Suckage continues on THE MANDALORIAN.

Episode 3 of THE MANDALORIAN dropped, and it was good! Good action, good pacing; and I really like how they’re not making the individual episodes conform to a standard length. The lack of padding gives me the feeling that everything we’re going to see on the screen is meaningful somehow.

Also: no real spoilers, but there’s just something enjoyable about watching somebody realize with horror that he just can’t live down to his bad intentions. It’s very affirming. They should make more shows that touch on that.

Watched Episode 1 of THE MANDALORIAN.

It did not suck! I was wondering if it would. But THE MANDALORIAN’s first episode, at least, delivers the goods on action. I just hope that they don’t do something stupid, like make the actor take his helmet off or decide that he doesn’t really need to be a hyper-professional bad-ass if that gets in the way of him having feelings. He should be a hyper-professional bad-ass who’s so good he can shoot around his feelings. That’s what they did in the first episode, and it worked out OK.

‘Course, that was just the first episode. Later ones might suck. Call no show good until its cancellation.
