New TINSEL RAIN stretch goal announced: an audiobook!

I was going to keep it mysterious for the Kickstarter, but I’m listening to a Backerkit crowdcast right and the presenter was very convincing about how that’s a bad idea generally. So, here’s the latest TINSEL RAIN stretch goal:

  •  $4,500: …Audiobook!  At this tier, I’ll have enough to pay for the audiobook version of TINSEL RAIN! I’ll be using the same narrator as before, too. This reward goes to everybody who backs at the E-Book plus Special Thanks! level or above. (Note: this will be the equivalent of Audible files, not the Audible files themselves. Note also that the audiobook will not be ready in September.)

Back today!

Testing the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter QR Code.

I’m going to need this for Farpoint, which will start in two days. I’m hoping to get some backers at the same time that I sell some books, because synergistic effects are awesome. I’ll also be handing out free PDFs of the pre-release RPG, because every little bit helps.

It should work fine, but let me know if it doesn’t.

The pre-Kickstarter anxiety just kick-started itself!

God, how I love this mental state. It happens every single time I do a crowdfund. I’m reasonably sure I can hit the target goal, and I know that there’s an interest in the book. I’ve had people ask me when I was doing a sequel to FROZEN DREAMS. Reader feedback on the book has been positive so far. Objectively, everything is fine.

And yet.

…I guess that’s why they call it a neurosis. Anyway, if I seem less poised than usual, it’s because of that. Also, if you haven’t signed up for launch notifications for the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter you can do so here.

The TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter starts in three days!

February 22nd! Save the date, or sign up here (or here) and you’ll be reminded! TINSEL RAIN is my sequel to FROZEN DREAMS; Shamus Tom Vargas is back, and investigating murder and magic in the Kingdom of New California! FROZEN DREAMS will also be on super-sale on Kindle for the first week of the Kickstarter, so keep that in mind, too.

Hope to see you Tuesday!

Good news: I can keep the paperback price of TINSEL RAIN down to $12.99.

Did some preliminaries, and it looks like the $12.99 price point still works. Well, for the moment at least. Ask me again in six months, given that inflation’s apparently a thing now.

Huzzah.

Anyway, plenty of incentive for me to get enough liquidity to publish as quick as possible, hey? Click here or here to sign up for notifications. Five days to go!

Hrm. May need to redo my TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter stretch goals.

I haven’t locked them in yet, which is good. The great problem with Kickstarter goals is to overpromise, and I’ve been very careful to avoid that trap, by and large. But if I want to offer a particular something as a Day One backer reward for the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter, I’m going to have to adjust my stretch goals somewhat. I am, alas, only one person.

A week to go on the Kickstarter, by the way. Huzzah! Click the link above (or click here) to set up notifications.

So I guess it’s gonna be the Mystery Sampler.

The poll results are in:

…Maybe I should have put it on the old account. Anyway, check out the TINSEL RAIN Kickstarter! Less than two weeks to go!

I am running a poll!

Via Twitter, because I don’t know how to run one here. Probably needs a plugin, or something. Anyway:

‘Post-beat, pre-edit draft’ means that first-day backers would get the manuscript (probably in .rtf form) after the beta readers got done with it, but before the actual editor carves it up some. So the plot and the text will be (hopefully!) the same, but at the very least there’d definitely be changes as the grammar and spelling bugs get squashed. “Mystery 3-story sampler” is… a mystery. And a sampler. With three stories. And “Art. All the art” is kind of self-explanatory. I buy a lot of art.

So go ahead and vote! The poll isn’t binding, but I’ll take it seriously.
