Solving twenty five year-old mysteries.

Saga still ongoing.

I am back, and so is MONSTER OF THE WEEK.

You all know who I am*: MONSTER OF THE WEEK is Shaenon Garritty’s weekly look at X-FILES episodes. She’ll be doing Season Seven this go-round. It may be a silly go-round, because apparently Season Seven was a very silly season. It’s been a while since I watched the episodes, myself.

The Return of SKINNER’S FIST* to the X-Files.

Oh, this is gonna be fun.

Mitch Pileggi will reprise his role as Walter Skinner in Fox’s upcoming six-episode “X-Files” revival.

Pileggi announced he would re-join the cast on Twitter on Monday, saying, “Walter Skinner will once again be getting all grumpy and bitchy with his two wayward kids.”

…Crap, I’m going to have to actually figure out where to find a cable TV so that I can watch this.

The X-Files is coming back as a miniseries. With the original leads, too.

Great day in the morning.

After a 13-year break, “The X-Files” is officially returning to television as a six-episode event series on Fox.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are reprising their iconic roles as paranormal phenomena-investigating FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, the network announced Tuesday. Creator/executive producer Chris Carter will also return to helm the reboot.

Well, I guess that I’m just going to have to go and watch this then, huh?

Tweet of the Day, Not Just ‘No,’ Actually edition.

‘Hell, no.”

It will suck. It will suck, because the original concept worked only because the show was steeped in the Nineties, and that was twenty years ago, and that era is dead. An updated, successful version would be effectively a different show, so you might as well call it something else. And Hollywood doesn’t have the moral courage to make a successful updated version.

So: not just no. Hell, no.

PS: This is a great webcomic that Shaenon really needs to start up again.

This is the Coolest Thing, for a given value of “Coolest Thing.” @shaenongarrity

Specifically, the Coolest Thing that is at the intersection of Kolchak – The Night StalkerThe X-Files; and Shaenon Garrity’s incredibly fun Monster of the Week webcomic (last link explains the tag line).

scully-kolchak

I am not saying that you have to be as enthusiastic as I am about Scully dressed as Kolchak; but if you plan to read this site very often then you probably should accept the fact that, yes, this is what I am all about. This X-Files album is… very 1990s.

Which is not supposed to be shocking –  Songs In The Key Of X: Music From And Inspired By The X-Files was made in 1996 – but it still is.  I mean, I must have listened to stuff like this, back then.  I just don’t remember doing that.

I mean, it’s not bad.  I’m glad that Shaenon Garrity recommended it on her X-Files recap comic Monster of the Week.  But it’s of its time; hoo, yeah.
