Yeah… that one’s an important question to be asking for a lot of these kinds of things. “It’s cool now, but what about in 15 years, when stuff has changed?” It’s just hard to get in that mindset sometimes, when the weapon is in your own hand, and aimed towards your enemies.
I certainly never expected to be making public mea culpas to the ghost of Frank Church about 40 years after Bush loyalists leveraged the national party apparatus to bring him down.
