Joshua Tree is still one of the best albums of my lifetime.
The area around Joshua Tree National Park is pretty surreal without spending months taking drugs and trying to commune with the ghost of Gram Parsons. I spent a couple of years in 29 Palms, and it was weird to keep running into things that had obviously been inspirations. (Such as the town of Yucca Valley not having street names. Sadly, that’s evidently changed in the years since I was there.)
