Team Romney’s first ad using Obama’s Ohio speech.

The first of many from the Romney campaign:

I myself counted enough raw footage from today’s Ohio speech to make a dozen Republican attack ads.  I don’t know who the heck told the President that it was a good idea to make a speech that tacitly conceded failure for the last four years, and half-demanded, half-begged for another four years in office.  Particularly since in 2010 former President Clinton went to the same locale and urged people to vote out the Democrats if they hadn’t fixed the economy by then… anyway, I don’t know who told the President that, but I hope that he* gets a raise.

*Almost certainly a he: Barack Obama has a very short list of women whom he trusts.

PS: Who the heck gives a speech in Ohio and doesn’t talk about clean coal and increased oil production?  That was so dumb that Mark Critz – a Democrat from Pennsylvania – freaked out about it, to the point of yelling at the President. Which should tell you everything that you need to know about how badly President Obama is messing up energy policy.

PPS: Transcript:

SCREEN TEXT: 2009

BARACK OBAMA: I will be held accountable. I’ve got four years. If I don’t have this done in three years, then is this gonna be a one-term proposition.

SCREEN TEXT: 2010

BILL CLINTON: Democrats are saying something like this, “Don’t go back in reverse, give us two more years and if it doesn’t work you have another election in just two years, you can vote us all out then.”

SCREEN TEXT: 2012

BARACK OBAMA: Of course the economy isn’t where it needs to be. Of course we have more work to do, everybody knows that.

SCREEN TEXT: Sounds like a one term proposition.

BARACK OBAMA: I love these folks who help get us in this mess and suddenly say, “Well, this is Obama’s economy.” That’s fine. Give it to me.

  1. Critz could care less about the President’s energy policy. What he cares about is the fact that in supposedly Union Blue Pennsylvania, he’s in a dead heat with Keith Rothfus and Rothfus is already outspending him by millions thanks to the huge haul he’ll have to have to fight the dirty union bosses there.

Keep an eye on PA-12. As goes that race, goes the country.
