He apparently has passed “due to complications from viral pneumonia.” He was 89 years old, and the last remaining World War II veteran in the Senate.
Our condolences to his family and loved ones.

Certainly he deserves honor and remembrance for his military service. Would hope, and I haven’t seen it, that no one on “our side” would say or tweet anything as offensive as what lefties usually put out there following deaths like Maggie Thatcher, et al.
As he was a liberal Democrat and I’m a conservative, I disagreed with the man, but I didn’t want to him dead. In fact just like you, I would have loved to see him defeated by Cory Booker (although that was taken away from us some time ago).
.
I too will pray for his love ones and family. I hope that he was right with God and is in Heaven.
