In the… Kindle: Space Eldritch II: The Haunted Stars.

I picked up the first one a while back, and since Space Eldritch II: The Haunted Stars had stories by Larry Correia and Howard Tayler in it, I figured that I’d use some of that sweet, sweet Amazon.com referral money to pick it up.  Through three or four of the stories, so far: and… well.  Things haven’t been going well for the heroes in them, thus far.  That entire Cthulhu Mythos thing, you understand.

Kind of the point, really.

  1. I’d argue that calling some of the protagonists “heroes”, stretches the word past its breaking point.

There are some really strong stories, well written.
I’m only about 2/3 through, myself. So far, it’s a lot stronger than the first collection, which was mostly forgettable with a few gems.

Surprisingly, I thought Larry Corriea’s effort was one of the weakest. (Although that could simply be my loathing of the “explain the horror” shtick. I don’t claim to be unbiased.)
