Knightscope autonomous security robots: I CANNOT POSSIBLY SEE HOW THIS CAN END BADLY.

When I first saw this, I thought that it was just a media tie-in. But it’s not. Behold: the Knightscope Autonomous Security Robot.

Just wait until they start putting tasers on these things. Which will admittedly make them look more like Daleks; come to think of it, why don’t they look more like Daleks?  A widened, armored base and skirt would probably help with stability.

PS: I don’t do political any more, but if you still ride that particular pony then just go here and scroll down. Trust me, you’ll know when you’ve reached the place I’m thinking of.

  1. Looks more like a rudimentary Portal bot to me.
I can almost hear the squeaky little voice.

  2. My question is, at what point [tech/computer costs going down, usefulness up, need up] does every fast food/business/doctor’s office have a security robot? Or every order kiosk also gets a taser, “just in case?”

  3. “We know decision making is best left to real people.”

Well, it does depend on the people. 2017 is shaping up to be the year which confirms that some people should not be allowed out of the house without their parents.
