It’s worth noting that in the “Spider-men” meet-up between 616 Peter Parker and Ultimate Milo Morales, the first Mysterio is the one who created the link-up between the two worlds. And he ended up getting imprisoned in the Ultimate Earth side of the portal (i.e. not the one he started on) when it was all over. So a dimension-hopping Mysterio isn’t a completely new idea.
That’s sssuming, of course, that Mysterio in this movie really is telling the truth about being a dimension-hopper in this movie, and not just pulling the usual Mysterio-style illusions.
