Stary Olsa live-streamed a concert today.

I saw this band live a few years ago: Stary Olsa plays early music (they’re from Belarus), and they put on a good show generally. The video below is the recording of their live stream. They’re also, shockingly, on Bandcamp — and they wouldn’t mind at all if you bought some of their music. It ain’t a great time to be an artist who didn’t make an advantageous marriage, folks. Just saying.

Quiet night tonight.

Well, I could put up that other video I worked on today.  That should interest people, right?  By the way: I’m getting why churches aren’t a bad venue for bands like this.  It was a ‘free’ concert… which meant that I dropped about fifty bucks, between the CDs at the merch table and the collection plate. Good acoustics, decent seating, low cost for a weeknight rental. Keep it in mind, folks.

Back from the concert, with some crowdfunding musings…

…mostly of the ‘funny old world’ category. I was able to go to a concert tonight because the Belarusian band Stary Olsa put together a Kickstarter that not only paid for a new album; it allowed them to tour in the USA this summer and fall. The world gets smaller every year – and thank God for that, huh?

Mind you, Belarus is a totalitarian hot mess, so progress is, as they say, uneven.

Hey, a reminder: Stary Olsa is in the middle of its USA tour.

Stary Olsa, of course, is that group from Belarus that does classic rock using medieval instruments.  They did that Kickstarter, remember? Anyway: they are doing their American tour, several of the concerts are rather absurdly near to my house, you should check it out and see if they’re playing near you, too.  Looks like it’s going to be a good bit of fun, really.
