Not home-brewing: I never did it. I don’t have the equipment and I don’t have the basement. Heck, I probably don’t have the patience.
But I truly do miss drinking the stuff.

There is a cool place here in Portland called “Let’s Brew!”. (unpaid advt.) You can do the home brewing on-premesis using their equipment, and they do the cleanup (there is, of course, a kitchen fee). I wonder if there might be any place similar in your area…
Don’t need a basement to brew. Homebrewing is a great skill to teach your kids. Think of it as an intro into science and cooking. And when the Progressives bring back their favourite ideas such as prohibition you’ll be ready.
Forgot to mention the history lessons to teach the kids, cultural traditions around the world. Historic brewing with ancient recipes is a popular brach of homebrewing.
