Seriously, what the heck was Mother Jones thinking? Were they thinking? It’s hard to tell.
Transcript here. Executive summary: The major reason why there’s no progress on the Palestinian situation is that the nation of Israel does not trust an independent Palestine not to cooperate in terrorist activities designed to destroy the nation of Israel, and that the Israelis have good reasons to be distrustful.

You know, every time conservatives start getting a little nervous about Romney, progressives come up with something about him that makes us feel a whole heck of a lot better. It’s downright bizarre. But not as bizarre as thinking that the American people don’t, by and large, agree with Mitt Romney. There’s a reason why the populace backs Israel over the Palestinian Authority by large margins, and it isn’t because of AIPAC.
No, seriously, a lot of progressives think that it’s because of AIPAC. Because a lot of progressives are… oh, I should be nice.

They were thinking how “awful” this sounds. If you spend your life protected from the truth, you will have a hard time recognizing it when you see it.
Right. It sounds awful to them, but is an opinion most Americans hold. The left is perpetually tone-deaf when it comes to issues that most Americans disagree with them on; they seem to forget that this is the case. And the liberal media allows them to get away with it because the media agrees with liberals on all of these issues, thus they are never questioned about their fringe beliefs. This is why you see liberals lose their marbles about guns every time there’s an event like the Colorado movie shooting. They keep hoping one of these times “people will finally get it…” The problem is that we do get it; we get that liberals are backwards on all of these issues. Palestine is one of them.
My guess is next Mother Jones will release a scathing video of Mitt Romney saying deficit spending doesn’t lead to prosperity, and act like that’s somehow not what every sentient person in the country already thinks. “Romney doesn’t think stimulus is a good idea?! How can we take him seriously as a candidate for president!?!?! I’m so upset right now… Didn’t he see how we saved GM?”
My liberal wife was BESIDE herself over this. Reason: SHE isn’ta ward of the state. That’s where the offense comes from. The Democrat media aren’t wards of the state, either. The problem is that he makes it sound like 47% (which is about equal to the immovable Democrat base vote) is too high for the context of that dependency class mentioned in that sentence.
My guess is this is the cost of the video from the Carter family given that Jimmy Carter is the biggest Palestinian fanbois in the US.
Because a lot of progressives are… oh, I should be nice.
A lot of “progressives” are unshakably on the side of the Mohammedans because the Mohammedans view Israel and the United States as the “Little Satan” and the “Great Satan,” and the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
