  1. Is anybody else sick of superhero movies destroying major cities? It’s supposed to bring tension to the scene but all I can think of is the thousands killed anonymously.

    1. I see it as part of the essential conflict of the genre.
      .
      On the one hand, a super hero is to a mundane what a champion grade trained, skilled, meat fed warrior equipped with armor and arms of the finest metallurgy is to a half starved serf never permitted to hold arms. Assuming the existing ranged weapons cannot defeat the armor.

      On the other, the owners of the media property make the writers pretend the setting is ours, with an egalitarian society, so that the readers will identify with it.
      .
      I do like cities being destroyed in fiction. I dislike most real world cities to some degree. It is great stress release and catharsis after dealing with annoying people and evil political factions.
