‘Birth of the International Touring Organ.’

This is going around, andĀ I found it an utterly engrossing six minutes of Wait, what? A mere description would be a disservice to my readers: some things must simply be experienced to be believed. Not that I would blame any of you for not believingĀ this one.

…I’m still not sure that it’s not the greatest practical joke ever played on, or by, Sony Classical ever.

  1. I saw that and then pulled up a few of Mr. Carpenters performance videos. He’s a very talented organ player, but… he’s not quite good enough to pull off the whole Hipster Genius thing. Liberache could ware the sequins, a dozen rings and have a diamond studded piano because he was a badass on the keys (but still played within his talent range). This guy does things like play Bach on the organ with only the foot pedals, which would be cool if he did it well… but he doesn’t. I mean he does it better than I could, which isn’t saying much, but I don’t fill a concert hall with paying customers and force them to listen to me butcher Johan B. while sporting a tiger print blazer and rhinestoned womens boots.
