Ad funding and the state of play in Kansas-SEN.

Adrian Gray and I are pretty much on the same page:

This is what he linked to:

Basically, Democratic cat’s-paw Greg Orman has been dumping ad money into this race more or less uncontested, which is a really good way to get your numbers up. That is no longer the case, and as this ad demonstrates…

…there is in fact an excellent argument to not let Orman win. It’s a distasteful argument, for many – essentially, that Pat Roberts > any Democrat; so just go ahead and deal with it* – but ‘distasteful’ does not equal ‘incorrect’ or ‘ineffective.’ Couple that with Orman’s problem that he can’t exactly openly coordinate with the Democrats without actually, you know, coordinating with the Democrats, and you can end up with every expectation that by this time next month we’ll be all scratching our heads trying to remember which Senate race it was that looked like it might actually, ha, flip to the Democrats or something…

*This is why you have to win primaries. Once the primaries are over, your options become limited. This is a thing that is true.

  1. The first vote by any senator is the most important one: the one that will allow or deny Harry Reid the power to run the Senate.

  2. To add to your comments, Moe: Look, no one is asking for you to talk up Roberts. Just ding Orman whenever you can. I will take an imperfect Republican Senate than Democrat controlled Senate any day of the week.
