…OK, I cannot resist this one. *This* is master-level trolling of atheists.

The article lives up to the promise of the title (“Scientists discover that atheists might not exist, and that’s not a joke“):

WHILE MILITANT ATHEISTS like Richard Dawkins may be convinced God doesn’t exist, God, if he is around, may be amused to find that atheists might not exist.

Cognitive scientists are becoming increasingly aware that a metaphysical outlook may be so deeply ingrained in human thought processes that it cannot be expunged.

The article does not quite go on to suggest that people with a genuine atheistic mindset are actually suffering from a neurological condition, but you can see that position from there. Personally, I try to be indifferent to the religious or irreligious sensibilities of people who aren’t actually trying to annoy me, but if this article gets any play in the ‘sphere at all it’s going to cause one Hell, if you’ll pardon the arch reference, of a donnybrook.  Should be a thing to see, really.

  1. Unsurprisingly, the Bible actually has few things to say on this subject. Peter notes this in Romans (I am unsure which chapter and I don’t have the time right now to go through them all) and we can see it play out in the various secular cults out there.

    1. Well, if it’s Romans, you mean Peter. And Romans 1:19-20 is pretty to-the-point:

      .

“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”

      .

Paul really doesn’t pull his punches, does he?

  2. Roman 16:17-18? Not sure. I’m thinking of a different verse I’m think of, but am too tired to find

  3. Ya’ll know that there are multiple online searchable bibles, right? Takes a couple of seconds by chapter:verse reference or text sample.
