Because it’s never a bad idea to have a party celebrating the end of slavery. That stuff is nasty. …And I really, really wish that I could still refer to it as being effectively in the past tense. Unfortunately, it’s having a bit of a revival abroad.

Slavery is quite corrosive .. in both directions. Seeing people as not-people, taking away their humanity in the mind .. that’s dangerous.

And yeah, it does seem to be making a comeback. We really ought to do something about that.

We let Democrats get elected. “Because there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between the two parties”, right? And the Democrats have never stopped trying to bring Slavery back. Sigh.
If you really want to get this into the mainstream, have Budweiser sponsor some events. Halfway between Memorial Day and Independence Day – it would be so easy to do, to get people to take a Friday off to celebrate Liberty Renewed.
