Disney’s ‘The Finest Hours’ trailer.

I just read up on this story. Why didn’t Hollywood make this one years ago? Even the official reports* sound like an adventure novel.

*Don’t read ’em if you don’t like spoilers.  There’s absolutely no way that Disney isn’t going to play this one absolutely straight to the facts, is all I’m saying.  This must have been the easiest darn screenplay in the world to write…

  1. Yep.

“The Coast Guard says you have to go out. They don’t say nothin’ about comin’ back.”

  2. Occasionally, Hollywood have to cut back on the dramatization because real life is too awesome.

  3. US Life Saving Service – You got to go out; you don’t got to come back.

A predecessor to the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard tries to keep their people from doing that motto because sending rescuers after the rescuers, losing people and equipment, isn’t a good thing. But knowing some on the active duty side (I’m USCG Auxiliary) I know they will fly out or boat out if they think they can do it.

  4. Now, do that at night with sky dropping everything it has on you. And it will be cold; it will (despite the dry suits now) bone-chilling cold.
